MSH Fall League Week 2 Very Competitive!
by MidStateHoops.com
September 23, 2007

The week was capped off by another exciting group of performances on Saturday in Peoria, Illinois at the 2007 MidStateHoops.com Fall Basketball Exposure League.

1st and 15th started they day off with a loss to So So Def.  6'4" Romeo Johnson posted 19 points in the win and was accompanied by 6'1" point guard T.J. Riggs who posted 14 points in a very solid showing but 6'8" freshman Tyler Tarrence's 18 points was a bit too much.

Cash Money's Travis Kellum had a great day as he scored 23 points though it wasn't enough to win as DTP's Andrew Jordan, a 6'4" post from Peoria Manual, and David Babb posted games of 19 and 17 points, respectively.

6'4" freshman Brandon Watson scored 14 points for Slip-N-Slide while Lawrence Kinney racked up a load of assists in their win over Def Jam.

Though D'mitri Riggs was sidelined with an injury, The Diplomats versus Roc-A-Fella was nothing less than exciting.  6'6" Deanddris Barbour had an outstanding day as he posted 25 points, proving himself as one of the state's most underrated players.  6'4" D.J. Richardson was also more than solid on this day with 21 points.  The Diplomats were led by Breon Jones who posted 18 points.

Flipmode’s 5’11” Mario Lobdell was very active on the floor.  He managed to scrap up 22 points in a to-the-wire battle against Star Trak.  However, the duo of 6’5” Donald Stewart and James Kinney, who put his outstanding passing skills on display, was too overwhelming as Star Trak took home the "W".

Bad Boy was led by Kendall Brown (18 points) in scoring but their big time performer was Cortez Augusta.  The 6’1” point guard scored and distributed the ball and left the gym with one of the most impressive performances of the day.  They were able to defeat Full Surface despite a 23 point effort by Derwin Gage.

The Ruff Ryders came away with a victory led by the Decatur Eisenhower backcourt of Lewis Jackson (19 points) and Jarod Oldham (17 points).  Oldham also put up big numbers in the assists column in the win over Aftermath.  Aftermath was led by sophomore Rayvonte Rice who scored 20 points on the night.

6’6” Isiah Nunn (22 points) proved that he had the ability to dominate a game in BME’s win over GOOD.  He was scoring from all angles and did little things to generate points for teammates.  However, GOOD did go down fighting.  Though his numbers don’t indicate it (13 points) Jontell Lindsay proved himself as one of the more elite guards in a stacked 2009 class.  This was the game of the day.  The game came down to the wire.  With BME trailing late, they made a strong run.  Shaquille Florez made a key steal and converted a layup to make the score 57-59.  Then Nunn got a score and a foul to tie the game up.  He missed the free throw attempt.  With the score tied, Nunn was fouled and sent to the line where he sank his 2 free throws to make it 61-59.  BME would win 62-59.

More games, more top notch performances, more exciting news, next week...same place, same time!
