Illinois Elite Outlasts Texas Bluchips Elite in Double Overtime Victory

Illinois Elite represented the state of Illinois very well in Arkansas on Friday night at the Real Deal on the Hill tournament.  The Champaign-based team opened with a victory over Texas Bluechips Elite, a top tier team in the state of Texas featuring 6’7” Quincy Acy, a four-star national recruit.

The close fought game ended in an 82-76 double-overtime finish.

6’6” Mikel Brigham led the team with 30 points and 14 rebounds, which included two monster tip slams.  6’1” point guard James Kinney also finished with 27 points.

Other members of Elite’s makeup this weekend include 5’10” Bryson Johnson, 6’7” Jeff Johnson, and 6’6” unsigned senior Nathan Swarts.

D’mitri Riggs (Spiece Gym Rats) poured in 15 points in a two point loss to Dallas Mustangs.

Other teams representing the state of Illinois in the event include MeanStreets, Illinois Warriors, and Illinois Bobcats.
