MSH Fall League Week 5: Big Ten Recruits Pair Off
by Pat Benninger
October 14, 2007

It was yet another exciting week of high school basketball this past Saturday in Peoria, Illinois.  The MidStateHoops.com Fall League is the state’s best exposure league around this time and many players are beginning to get recognized as some of the state’s best.

7th – 9th Grade Division
1st and 15th went home with a slim victory over DTP despite a 24 point effort by Andrew Jordan.  The 6’4” forward scored from everywhere on the floor and had some spectacular dunks in the process.

Cash Money was led to a large victory over Def Jam.  They were by Marcus Fair who had 17 points and was great on the defensive end.  Tyler Lundeen countered with 18 points but had to settle with a loss.

5’4” Jerrell White led So So Def over Slip-N-Slide with a 20 point effort.

10th – 12th Grade Division
Ruff Ryders posted a very large win over Roc-A-Fella in our game of the day which featured a pair of Big Ten recruits.  5’9” Purdue bound Lewis Jackson was at full force.  He posted 18 points and was a human highlight reel for the majority of the night.  Though he came out with a loss, recent University of Illinois recruit D.J. Richardson had an outstanding night.  He shot the ball extremely well and created well for his teammates, as evident by Terron Burnside’s 20 points.

Isiah Nunn and Shaquille Florez have been spectacular these past two weeks.  They’ve made a great combination and combined for nearly 50 points in their (BME) win over Bad Boy.  Nunn was, again, dominant on both ends of the floor and Florez dropped in six 3-pointers.

In the division’s third game, Star Trak defeated Aftermath 59-50.

Flipmode completely decimated The Diplomats.  An energetic Marious Lobdell led Flipmode with 24 points as the rest of the team had a very balanced effort.  Erik Dornfeld scored 16 points in the loss.

Full Surface defeated GOOD 75-74 in the final game which turned out to be a great matchup.  Full Surface had a very stable attack from their entire team and proved a strong team effort beats big individual performances.  GOOD was led by freshman Donivine Stewart with 27 points.  He got to the lane and made big plays throughout the stretch.  They also had a strong effort from Adrian Burleson.  The 6’7” beefy post used his size well and had his best showing yet with 21 points.  Jontell Lindsay also posted 17 points in the loss.
