Player Focus: Eric McCullough
by Pat Benninger
December 29, 2007

Good post players are a rarity to come by now of days.  Usually you have sizey players who aren't very talented or skilled players with very little size.  Normal U-High has a player that brings both to the table.  We brought you Jake Lindfors (Albany), Brett Thompson (St. Louis), and Kyle Rowley, among many others, in previous Player Focuses...now we bring you one of the state's best overlooked prospects...

6'9" 220 lbs senior Eric McCullough has been a player who has undoubtedly flew far under the radar and it's time to bring this hidden gem out.  He's a true post that brings athleticism and an aggressive style of play to the plate.  He's a great shot blocker and rebounds the ball well.  Offensively, he's shown that he can score the ball on the block and will only get better with experience.

We've followed Eric since his sophomore season and he has made tremendous strides.  In addition to putting on muscle, he's become a lot more aggressive and is a lot more coordinated than he has been in previous years.  He's made a huge step in improvement over the past summer.

We project McCullough as a low to mid major prospect.  He is one of the best true post players in the 2008 class and should begin to draw Division I attention.

Keep it locked to MidStateHoops.com as we will continue to bring you the latest information in McCullough's recruitment as well as the best information in Illinois prep basketball!
