Barnes Commits to Eastern Michigan
by Pat Benninger
September 16, 2007

Iman Shumpert has been the face of Oak Park-River Forest over the past year.  However, the Huskies also featured another class of 2008 Division I guard: Daniel Barnes.  Tonight, Barnes gave up his verbal commitment to Eastern Michigan.

Daniel stands 6'2" 175 lbs.  He is a very athletic combo guard who can score and distribute.  In addition, he's a lefty who is very tough to defend off the dribble.

This upcoming season, Barnes and Shumpert will team up as one of the best backcourt duo's throughout the state.  In addition, they have a good chance of getting to the Class 3A state tournament.

He competed on the AAU circuit with Illinois Wolves and is the seventh 2008 member in their program to verbal to a Division I school.  He chose Eastern Michigan over LaSalle.
