Player Focus: Rich Fisher

Even with the departure of Jeremy Leonard, Chicago De La Salle is a very, very talented team.  Elliott Brown is their leading scorer, Derek Needham is their speedy point guard, and Mike Shaw is their high profile guy.  Let us introduce you to their 'glue' guy who isn't too shabby either: Rich Fisher.

Fisher is a 6'0" 175 lbs junior.  He runs both guard slots at De La Salle, as both Brown and Needham play the 1 also, but he will be a point guard on the collegiate level.  Rich is a smart, fundamentally sound player with good instrincts.  He handles and passes it well and is a very good spot up shooter.  He isn't overly quick but he's good enough to get to the rim and draw contact from defenders.

Rich was the Meteors' leading scorer throughout the State Farm Holiday Classic.  He was excellent at scoring in the crunch as opponents focused on defending Brown and Needham.  He gives De La Salle what former Tennessee guard Dane Bradshaw gave the Vols a season ago: a coach on the floor to keep things in order.

MidStateHoops.com projects Fisher as a low level Division One guard.  He has the body appearance of former St. Laurence and current Notre Dame guard Thomas Kopko but has a better basketball mind and more point guard skills.

Look for Rich to get a lot more attention from college coaches throughout the remainder of his high school career.
