THE BEST IN ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL RECRUITING!

Player Focus: Davon Smith
by Pat Benninger
August 10, 2006

Last fall, we warned everyone that Chicago Dyett would be one of the most underrated teams in the state, which they were.  This fall, we’re bringing you one of the most underrated players in the state.  Coincidently, he attends Dyett High.  His name is Davon Smith.

Smith is a member of the class of 2008.  He’s a 5’10” 170 lbs point guard.  As a sophomore, Davon logged the most minutes for a solid basketball program.  He led his team in assists and steals.  He also was selected 2006 CPL All-Conference and Class A Honorable Mention.

Smith is a hardnosed guard with an intense work ethic.  He states, “I am eager to play Division One basketball when I graduate high school because I am a discipline player willing to work hard.”  His dream is quickly morphing closer and closer to reality as a ton of Division One programs have already expressed interest including DePaul, Villanova, Wisconsin, UTEP, UAB, California, UIC, Florida State, Cincinnati, and Rutgers, according to Dyett head coach, Clarence Smith.

Be on the look out for this up and coming star this winter.
