Eric Travis Making Coach Proud; Now On Track To Qualify
by Pat Benninger
January 31, 2008

Two summers ago, MidStateHoops.com got our first look at, the then, 6'4" forward Eric Travis.  He was just a sophomore then and was very good.  Eric is a senior now and having an AMAZING final outing!

Travis, who is now pushing 6'6" 195 lbs, has performed well all season.  He's averaging 16 ppg and 12 rpg for Hinsdale South.  In addition, he's also won some prestegious awards.

"Eric has been the MVP at Thanksgiving (Riverside-Brookfield Thanksgiving Tournament) and Christmas (Lemont Holiday Tournament)," stated Vince Doran, the head coach at Hinsdale South.  "We won both tournaments and he absolutely dominated both of them."

As far as recruiting goes, Eric has seen a great deal of interest from Lewis University.  He will have his chance to be a stellar Division II player.

"Eric is a kid that I never thought would qualify.  Many people will be surprised that he is going to be a D2 Qualifier.  Lewis (Scott Trost) has been very interested.  No one else knows he's available.  I'm just now trying to get the word out.  His Semester grades were all A's and B's and I did the NCAA worksheet myself and as of now it really looks like he's going to make it."

It's obvious he has made his coach proud both on and off the court as he has nothing but praise for him.

"He is one of the finest human beings I have coached.  GREAT kid."

Eric is currently playing the combination forward but is projected as a big small forward on the next level.  He's a very athletic lefty that is beginning to extend his range.

As his coach stated, Travis is simply "is a diamond in the rough" and will make the school that gets his services very happy!
