Quincy University Adds Two Transfers
by Pat Benninger
January 17, 2008

As of late, Quincy University has been notorious for picking up transfers and getting steals at the Division II level.  Well, they've done it again.  Tyler Burke of Air Force Academy and Rivelino "Mookie" Pierre of Marshall have both enrolled at the university and will be competing with the Hawks next season.

Burke, a 6'2" guard from Missouri, is a 2007 graduate from Warsaw High School.  He was a three time varsity letterman and earned First Team All-State Honors during his senior term while averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists and breaking his school's all-time record both for points and steals.

"We are very excited that Tyler has decided to join our program. He is a hard worker with strong perimeter skills which makes him a great addition to our team. His ability to handle and shoot the ball will be important to our future on-court success. He is a good fit for our university and basketball program," said Quincy head coach Marty Bell.

Pierre, originally committed to Tennessee-Chattanooga while at Riverside Community College.  He later signed with Marshall University instead but was not eligible to participate this season due to academics.  The 6'5" swingman, orginially from Gaithersburg, Maryland, averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds at Riverside and 20 points per game at his previous school, Montgomery Community College.

"Mookie is a talented and versatile athlete. He will be a great fit for our system as he has the ability to play anywhere on the perimeter. This, along with his maturity and experience will be important to his transition into our program," said Bell .

Both players will be eligible at the start of the 2008-09 season.
