Storm Off the Board

September 16, 2007

One of the state's top ten class of 2008 players is now off the board as Tyler Storm has committed to Northern Illinois.

"Tonight he notified Coach Patton and his staff at Northern Illinois University that he wants to help them build a program there," stated Brad Storm, Tyler's father and high school coach.  "There were many reasons why he chose NIU over others and over waiting until spring."

At 6-7, Tyler can play positions 2-4 and figures to be a 3 at the collegiate level.  He can pound with post players inside and he can step outside and hold his own with quick and agile guards.  Storm has improved his shooting over the years and is now a full force from the outside.  On the next level he figures to add to what NIU is trying to build.  His skills make him a player who can contribute immediately.  He is such a hard worker who can bring so many different things to the table, it is hard to imagine him not making an impact at NIU.

Many schools were in on Storm.  Albany, DePaul, and Illinois State were three big time players.

"He had received nine Div-I scholarship offers and had some other schools still interested as well. But, one proved that they wanted him the most and the fit was too comfortable to pass up for him."

Storm is the second class of 2008 player to verbal to the Huskies as 6'0" Mike Dinunno of Chicago Von Steuben has already pledged.
