Former Bloomington Central Catholic Prep Star to Big XII
As a senior in high school, Bloomington Central Catholic grad, Justin Safford, was one of the more unheralded players. He was receiving interest from Milliken College and Parkland Junior College. However, we at MidStateHoops.com knew he would be special. This is evident by us nominating him as a McDonald's All-American and rating him in our Top 40 Senior Rankings. Over the course of this past season at Charis Prep, Safford improved tremendously. He began adjusting to his newly gained, 6'9" body and demonstrated he could play with the best of the best. He averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds. Justin's play helped him earn scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Providence, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Winthrop, and Xavier. However, no school impressed Safford as much as Coach Mike Anderson and MISSOURI did, as he committed to become a Tiger. We wish Justin the best and hope to see more sleepers like him in the near future.
