Simeon Guard to ISU
by Pat Benninger
August 31, 2007

Tim Jankovich has landed his second player from the 2008 class as Simeon senior Kenyon Smith has given Illinois State a verbal commitment.

Smith, a 6'0" point guard, is known for his aggressiveness, will to compete, and defensive abilities.  He also has the ability to score and is good at setting teammates up.  Last season, Kenyon was a vital role for the state champion Wolverines, backing up Memphis guard Derrick Rose.

This commitment was predicted by MidStateHoops.com in our Foggy Forecast: Recruiting Predictions released August 12th of this year.

Kenyon will give the Redbirds a role playing guard with great poise on the floor.  His hustle is one that is nearly unmatched by any other class of 2008 prospect in the state as well.  He is the second from his high school to commit this year as incoming junior Steve Walker recently verballed to Northern Illinois University.

Smith competed on the AAU circuit with Chicago Express.  He is the second to verbal from their AAU squad (Zavion Neeley to Chicago Hope).
