Former Team Illinois Stars Putting In Work at Juco Level
by Pat Benninger
November 17, 2007

Team Illinois has been the best college producing AAU program south of the Chicago area.  They've sent over 20 players to the Division I level since 2001 and have sent over 75 players to collegiate programs.

Two Bloomington High School graduates have been putting up gaudy numbers.

Dodie Dunson II, a 2005 graduate and Iowa State transfer, has been putting up very solid numbers for Vincennes J.C., who is currently rated #18 in the nation and stands 6-0.  The 6'3" 190 lbs point guard is averaging 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.  Also, he boasts a 5:1 assist to turnover ratio.  He's received offers from a lot of mid major programs including Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Indiana State, Northern Illinois, St. Bonaventure, and Wichita State among others.  Oklahoma and George Washington have also become very involved.

2006 graduate DeAntre Jefferson has been playing very well at South Georgia Tech C.C.  The 6'9" 230 lbs power forward is averaging 23 points and 14 rebounds.  Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, UC Riverside, and Weber State have all offered and many programs are interest including South Florida.  He has stated that he won't make a decision until April of 2008.

Jordan Lee, a 2006 Champaign Central graduate, has been great at Chattanooga State C.C.  The 6'4" 210 lbs forward recently poured in 37 points.  He is the leading scorer for a very solid team that features 6'8" Dominique Rouse (committed to Tennessee State) and 6'0" Labrez Barbour (a former Auburn signee).  UC Santa Barbara has stepped up their recruiting efforts big time.

All three prospects are considered as three of the nation's best.  Other former Team Illinois players currently competing at the junior college level include 6'6" Spencer Adams (Yakima Valley C.C.), Corey Aken (North Iowa C.C.), Ronnie Bell (Danville Area C.C.), Brandon Farmer (Lincoln C.C.), Steve Gross (Lewis & Clark C.C.), Lester Hart (Parkland J.C.), Nick Michael (Lincoln Land C.C.), Alonzeia Moore (Illinois Central College), and Wesley Ware (Spoon River C.C.).
