Garriott Pledges to Cougars
by Pat Benninger
August 25, 2007

Bloomington Central Catholic senior Aaron Garriott, has given his verbal commitment to Coach Lennox Forrester and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Garriott, a 6'3" 165 lbs point guard, is known for his ability to shoot and pass the ball.  He has great size at the point and the ability to fill both guard slots.  He rates as one of the state's top class of 2008 players.

This past weekend Aaron took an official visit before committing to the Cougars.  He selected their program over offers from Air Force, Denver, and North Dakota and interest from Akron, Bradley, Colgate, Indiana State, Lehigh, Samford, and Utah State.

His commitment was predicted on August 13th by MSH in our article Future Division I Program Already Having Success on the Recruiting Trail.

As a junior, Garriott averaged 15 points and 4 assists playing alongside Brandon Dunson (UT-Chattanooga), Josh Brent (Illinois), and super shooter Tom Norton.  He is the leader of one of the state top Class 2A programs.  In addition, he competes on the AAU circuit with Team Illinois.

SIU-E is a Division II program that will be turning into a Division I program next season.
