Former Bloomington Prep Star Getting Division I Attention by Pat Benninger July 15, 2007
The city of
Bloomington-Normal has always been a hot bed for
Central Illinois talent. It is only second to Peoria, Illinois and is gaining on it very quickly.
Two seasons ago, 6’7” 210 lbs DeAntre Jefferson attended Bloomington High School. He was a bit raw and decided to go the junior
college route. Jefferson started off at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois but transferred to Grayson County College in Texas.
Now at 6'8" 225 lbs and more developed, DeAntre has seen his stock soar with college coaches. Recently, he participated in the Mullen’s Top 120 Juco Review are played
lightsout. Because of this he received
his first Division I scholarship offer.
It came from UC-Riverside.
In addition to the UC-Riverside offer, Eastern Illinois, Sam Houston State, and
Weber State have shown a great deal of interest.
On the AAU circuit, Jefferson competed with Team Illinois.
