Michael Thompson

G

5'11"

170

2007

Chicago (IL) Lincoln Park

A true floor general. Thompson has solid court vision and passing ability that allows him to make good decisions with the basketball. He handles the ball well and has good instincts. He shoots the ball well from the outside and can fill up the stat sheet quickly. Juice played well over the weekend and led his team to a strong in-state win over Champaign Central.

D'Walyn Roberts

F

2007

Duncanville (TX)

A long and smooth inside/outside player. Roberts is a a versatile player who can make his presence felt from anywhere on the floor. He is a quality rebounder and shot blocker that gets off the floor quickly and stays active around the basket. On defense he moves his feet well for his size and is able to stay with smaller players off the dribble. His shot mechanics are a little shaky but he possesses the intangibles needed to contribute for Coach Bobby Knight next season at Texas Tech.

Brandon Ross

F

6'5"

180

2008

Chicago (IL) Lincoln Park

A strong, well built forward. Ross is a compact post player who doesn't shy away from contact. He has a soft touch on his shot. He stepped his game up over the weekend in the absence of JJ Henley who has been sidelined with injury. Ross held his own against a highly touted Duncanville frontline with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Brian Talley

PG

5'9"

2008

Duncanville (TX)

A lightning quick point guard. Talley loves to push the ball up the floor quickly. He always looks up and ahead to find open teammates in transition. His speed in the open floor is a great asset and he also has an excellent stroke from the outside that allows him to make an impact in the halfcourt setting.

Shawn Williams

F

6'7"

2009

Duncanville (TX)

A smooth wing player. Williams is a special player who oozes with potential. When watching him on the floor you can tell that the sky is the limit. He has soft hands and good mechanics on his jumpshot. His long arms allow him to be disruptive on defense. He is an excellent athlete that gets up high for rebounds. One thing that this sensational sophomore will need to improve upon his passiveness during games. While somewhat understandable based on the talent of his team, he does appear to be coasting at times. He has time and will grow into an all-out superstar over time. Hosting offers from schools such as Baylor, Texas and Arkansas, Williams is also drawing interest from Illinois. Williams told MSH that he that he has family there and is very interested in the Illini.

Kevin Butler

F

6'5"

180

2008

Duncanville (TX)

Butler is the team's sleeper. On such a heralded team it is hard for every player to get his just due. This guy is a beast. He has good footwork in the low post and he finishes well around the baset. He has good hands and does a good job of catching the ball in traffic.

Beas Hamga

C

7'0"

225

2008

Decatur (IL) Christian

A very Agile big-man with excellent explosiveness. Hamga posseses great leaping ability and runs the floor extremely well. His long arms and instincts make him a ver good shoot blocker and he rarely loses 50-50 rebound opportunities. He is a monster on the interior who cleans up the boards and is instrumental in the scheme of team defense. He has a decent touch on his shot, but he is not a prolific shooter. He needs to add strength and sometimes struggles against stronger players. Hamga startd slow in his big matcup against DeAndre Jordan but then found his nitch and began to dictate the game. He finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

DeAndre Jordan

C

7'0"

2007

Humble (IL) Christian Life Center Academy

A true post presence. Jordan has excellent footwork downlow and possesses very good mobility for a player his size. He has some nice power moves to the basket and a soft touch around the basket. He does a nice job of jockeying for position down low. He needs to work on his jumpshot. He has an average wingspan for a player his height and above-average leaping ability for a player his size. He plays with good intensity but sometimes gets lost in the shuffle of the guard dominated game. He runs the floor well but needs to improve on his passing in the open court.
