Midwest Showdown Review

Terrell Ramey’s Midwest Showdown was, again, a success.  With over 45 teams in attendance, the state of Illinois came out on attendance in two of the three age brackets.

In the 17 and under division, the Midwest Storm ended up capturing the title.  The Storm ended up blowing out Team Excalibur in the championship with a 56-38 point margin.  6’5” Josh Edmonds, who gained MVP honors, led the Storm with 14 points on shooting 4/5 from 3-point range while 6’4” Jeremy Felton finished with 9 points including four thunderous dunks.

St. Louis Gameface ended up winning the 16U division.  They defeated the St. Louis Falcons, 53-45, and were led by Cornelius Walker, with 19 points, and Marcel Taylor, with 12 points and 8 blocks.  Jared Woolfolk, of O’Fallon, led the Falcons with 20 points.

On the 15 and under division, Team Illinois secured the title by defeating the St. Louis Eagles.  Tywon Howard led a short-handed Team Illinois and received MVP honors.  D’mitri Riggs also played a big factor in the team’s success throughout the tournament.
